Sharon Lawson is a famous American journalist who anchored ”Good Day Atlanta” on WAGA-FOX 5. However, Lawson left Fox 5 on June 5, 2024. This was after 7 years of serving as an anchor. Previously before joining Fox 5 in 2017, she worked as an anchor at an NBC affiliate in Miami for 14 years.
Lawson’s passion for journalism began quite at a young age. She would practice intros and outros using a hairbrush and a mirror. Later she attended and graduated from the University of Central Florida where she gained her skills as a correspondent at WWSB. However, she also worked as a photographer before her 1995 debut as an anchor at WMDT in Salisbury.
That aside, Lawson also served as the weekend anchor at WHIO in Dayton, Ohio but later left to join WFTC in Minneapolis. Through all these stations she brought out the best of herself while finally returning to Florida’s east coast from 1997-2000 to cover the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market.
During her career, Sharon has had the opportunity to meet and interview several people. This includes the late heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and the 14th Dalai Lama among others. When away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, bike riding, and traveling.
